The Best of July πŸŽ†

Hello Reader!

Happy Wednesday!

Somehow, we've made it to the first week of August, and I don't know what is going on in your neck of the woods, but in mine, school starts in about a week. Summer has truly flown by, and I am trying to soak up every last second of it.

Before we jump into all that is August, though, let's talk about July. Specifically...

  1. Kitchen progress. Our kitchen is taking shape, and it is so exciting to watch it come together. It should be finished this month! I cannot wait until it's ready so we can enjoy it... and make meals indoors again. (We've been cooking solely on the grill and in the microwave for the duration of this project, which has been an adventure.)
  2. Travel. Last month, we visited family in Chicago and the Bay Area and had the best time. I was introduced to fried cheese curds (a delicacy I hadn't discovered down here in TX) and was charmed by ferries, among other things.
  3. Thanksgiving in July. My sister asked if we could make Thanksgiving dinner while we visited. Our answer was YES. We made all of our favorites, including mom's epic stuffing, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce and two different styles of chicken (since whole turkeys were unavailable.) I loved every second of it and the time spent together.

Finally, I know there are lots of places for you to find recipes on the internet, and I really appreciate you being here, supporting my small business and cooking along with me at The Speckled Palate. Thank you!

How did July treat you? What are you looking forward to about the month of August?

August Happenings...

  1. Back to school is coming! If you're anything like me, you are on the hunt for easy back-to-school breakfasts. If you or your people are into smoothies, this list is for you.
  2. Grilling season is still going strong. And this month's content is grill-focused because of it. As someone who has gotten really good at grilling this summer, I am pumped to share these dishes with you!
  3. The "I can't currently make this in my house" cravings are real. Real talk: I cannot wait to bake again! I'm eyeballing these cookies and this quick bread as candidates for the first bake in the new kitchen.

Howdy! I'm Erin.
