How I mastered the grill and you can too! (Dad will be proud) πŸ”

Hello Reader!

Once upon a time, our grill caught fire. And after that, I was pretty hesitant to fire it up again... for good reason!

Nowadays, we love grilling, and and this summer, with our kitchen under renovation, the grill is basically my entire kitchen!

After all, grilling is a good excuse to be outside, the fire makes everything oh-so-flavorful, and it's way easier than you think. And for someone who was intimidated by the grill once upon a time, believe me when I say it's worth the trouble of learning how to do it.

Next Sunday is Father's Day, and we're planning to make something delicious as we celebrate my husband. He reads this newsletter, too, so no spoilers shall follow. Ha!

Whether you're planning something for Father's Day, getting ready for July 4th (so soon!) or just want to level up your cookouts this summer, here are my top tips and tricks:

Your Summer Grilling Guide

Tip #1: Salt early, thank yourself later.

The secret to a perfect grilled steak starts before you even fire up the grill. Salt it early, let it come to room temperature and use indirect heat to avoid flare-ups. Follow these steps and you'll enjoy restaurant-quality steak at home throughout the year.

Tip #2: Think outside the beef.

Turkey burgers get a bad rap β€” but that's only because most people don't know the tricks that keep them juicy. (Spoiler: it's all about the thumb indent and the temperature.) These are so good, they might just become your new cookout staple.

Tip #3: Get creative with your ingredients.

A Juicy Lucy is a burger with the cheese stuffed inside the patty β€” and yes, it is exactly as good as it sounds. It looks super impressive, but it's truly one of the easiest hacks you can pull off on the grill. Prepare to take allllll the credit.

Tip #4: Let the marinade do the work.

The secret to great grilled chicken is in the marinade β€” and this one does all the heavy lifting. The flavors of this shawarma are incredible, everyone always asks for the recipe. It's so easy it's almost embarrassing.

Tip #5: Your grill can do more than you think.

The grill isn't just for meat β€” and this pizza is proof. That crispy, slightly charred crust? You simply cannot get that from a regular oven. This is perfect if you want to celebrate all things grilling... or if you're like me and your oven is currently out of commission.

Bonus Tip: Don't forget the sides.

Grilling is only as good as what you serve alongside it. Whether you're doing steak, burgers or chicken, these are my favorite steakhouse sides to round out the plate...

Happy grilling!
